Thumb Up animal poll

When animals stop being as cute and cuddly as they look, humans can be in trouble. Which critter are you most afraid of?
Add your vote!
Killer kangaroos - there's a reason they have a reputation for boxing
Koalas - Our own bears are known for getting liquored up and grumpy - not to be trusted
Marauding magpies - Polly want a cracked skull? Blue ring octopus - Way too much pain and poison in one little package
Crocodile - Both the water kind and the Dundee kind are enough to put tourists off
Dingoes - Just because they look like puppies...
Spiders - We've got the red back, the funnel web, the white tail... be afraid Platypus - Part duck, part otter, big part poisonous spikes
Kittens - You may laugh, but one look at a kitten and you know they're plotting something. Come on, you know what I'm talking about...

jellyfish

I would hate one or more of those bastards to stick to my legs and arms or any part of my body while I'm swimming
and you can do nothing because the more you try to push them off the more they'll burn your skin with all their evilness
the stings must be awful

You think Aussie Land has some dangerous creatures, Here in Mississippi, we have a critter known as a "babe". Beautiful to look at and soft to the touch, but cross one and you will PAY. I know where of I speak!

lol, can you post a pic?

as for me i like cats even when they are little demons! the only cats i won't go near are stray cats. aside from the risk of rabies, there's a bigger risk into getting infected with a bacteria that cats carry. my sister told me about an article of a woman who got bit by a stray cat and i think in less than a day it was badly infected.. forgot what the outcome was, but the thought of it happening to anyone was scary

Reminds me of a song by the Scared Weird Little Guys - made to promote tourism.

Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Taipan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell
That spikes you when you pick it up

Come to Australia
You might accidentally get killed

Your life's constantly under threat
Have you been bitten yet?
You've only got three minutes left
Before a massive coronary breakdown

Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Tiapan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Big shark just waiting for you to go swimming
At Bondi Beach

Come to Australia
You might accidentally get killed
Your blood is bound to be spilled
With fear your pants will be filled
Because you might accidentally get killed

I'm one of the lucky Aussies.
Where I live will very soon be invaded with Tiger snakes and Brown snakes, and it's not unusual to walk out onto my front verandah at night and be confronted by a Tiger snake.
Almost convinced me to give up smoking once, Almost, nearly.
Last spring, I gave one tiger snake a nasty headache with a blunt, hoe (a gardening implement for those of you who may think of the other type, but the other type is sharp I'm lead to believe), anyway, that snake didn't come back again, but I did leave some aspirin out for it, lol, and this spring, the hoe is sharp enough to shave with, so it better stay away.
I have a mountain behind my house, and a creek across the street out front, so the only way to get to the water is via my yard.
Lucky for them, snakes are a protected species, but I know my neighbours cat doesn't agree.
Speaking of cats, luckily, we don't have rabies in Aus, but I did have a cat dragged a 7' brown snake into my house to play with it one day, and I stepped out of my bedroom to be confronted by the bloody thing, luckily, back in those days I had a 22 rifle, and shot the cat, No, No, I mean I shot the snake, didn't do the floor boards in the rented house too good, but nothing a rug couldn't cover up.
Bloody gun laws, I'm not allowed to own one and shoot the protected snakes, but a couple of nice sharp chopping tools, and they're not protected in my yard, and I couldn't care less what the law says.
The protection laws for snakes are actually there to protect all the idiots who get bitten while trying to kill snakes, and statistics show that more people are killed in horse accidents than by deadly snakes. So if that's the case, why can't we just leave the snakes protected, and legalize beating horses to death with a baseball bat?
That's supposed to be a joke folks.
I grew up with/around snakes, and haven't yet come across a snake which didn't try to get out of my way, and last spring, I put my hand under a work bench in my yard to pick something up, and a Tiger snake took off away from my hand, and it was no more than about 8" away from me when I realized it was there, so that, I considered was my good fortune for the year, because in mating season, they can become very aggressive.

West of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales.

We only really have to contend with Tiger snakes, Brown snakes, Yellow and Red belly snakes, the occasional Death adder, Red backs, Funnel webs, White tails, and in my case, a hateful vindictive ex wife.
Personally, I prefer the snakes and spiders, at least I can dispose of their bodies without retribution from the law, and they are not nearly as venomous as her.
