Is tehParadox not good enough?
Well, over the course of my membership here (<1 year I think) I've recommended this site to over a dozen friends, but to no avail. I've pointed out all the good points that I could think of, like it being fast and convenient and being pretty much undetectable by colleges (I had a friend who torrented at college for a single week. He downloaded 3 movies and got a nasty email from Paramount and almost got kicked out of housing).
What can I do/say to get them on the wagon? Or should I just give up?
Currently I'm the designated movie/game getter for people on my floor (although the requests aren't regular enough to annoy me). It would be so much easier for both parties if they would just join up, wouldn't it?

tehPARADOX is right. They won't bother finding the files themselves coz they got you to do it for them. Stop supplying and point them here. Hopefully they won't stay lazy and start using the search button when they're here. | ||

some people sell stuff like movies. i met a person who sold mma vids on dvd discs for 5 quid and he made alright profit..why dont you do something similar?

I would advice against selling the movies. Downloading them is bad enough if you get caught. Selling them will get you in tons of problems.

I say why not take the product away from friends. This site is quite profitable if you sell certain hard to find contents to friends... then again as long as its not copyrighted ^_^

I'm constantly staggered by the number of people who favour P2P and torrents over uploading sites. I only ever use torrents if I want a whole TV series, and never let P2P software near my PC. | ||

Stopping supply as stated by TP would be the best bet. As for all the suggestions of downloading and selling the programs, this is an easy way to end up in jail, and have a very large debt to pay as well (copyright infringement). I believe if I download something and try the program with a full version, something which will be used at home, by me, usually for educational purposes, and I neither sell the program, nor make a living from the software, I am not really hurting the developers, but downloading, and selling, or making a living using their software, I consider to be another matter. I know of several idiots caught because they DL the programs for free, then sell them, and eventually, they have gotten caught. It definitely wasn't worth it for the few bucks they made. | ||
