Classic Comics Collector's Series: The Haunt of Fear Complete
RS | CBR & CBZ | EC Comics | 1950-1954 | 450 MB Total
The Haunt of Fear is one of three American bi-monthly horror comic anthology series published by EC Comics in the early 1950s. The other two are Tales From the Crypt and Vault of Horror. Tales From The Crypt (and its precursor Crypt of Terror) were already previously posted in tehPARADOX.com. The Haunt of Fear hit newsstands with its May/June 1950 issue and ceased publication with its November/December 1954 issue, producing a total of 28 issues. By then, mounting pressure from sectors disapproving of its contents (considered quite risqué at the time) and the imposition of a highly restrictive Comics Code compelled EC Comics publisher William Gaines to cancel the three comic titles.
Again, full credit is hereby given to Bloodred1964 who compiled and created the torrent collection, from reprints and from EC originals. I have kept his classification of sorting the series into Volume 1 (issues 15, 16 & 17) and Volume 2 (issues #4-28) faithfully keeping with EC Comics' original numbering. Further information and the complete issue guide can be found in the Wikipedia article @
.Quote:
The first issue of Haunt of Fear was a title change from an EC Western comic book series, Gunfighter and was numbered where Gunfighter dropped off, #15. In the early 1950s, comic book publishers, seeking to save money on second-class postage permits, would frequently change titles of their comics rather than start new ones. The numbering was reset after issue 17, which was explained in the letter column of issue 4: "After publishing issues 15, 16, and 17, the United States Post Office requested that the fourth issue actually be numbered No. 4 rather than No. 18... Well, 'ya can't fight City Hall!'" The EC war comic Two-Fisted Tales took over the numbering, starting with issue 18, and never ended up resetting its numbering. --- Wikipedia
