Default Ad trap / donating

Hi

I couldn't get on today until I disabled JavaScript in Firefox, because the FunnyHub ad doesn't seem to have a "skip" or "close" and I got stuck there on every page I tried, every time I tried it. I guess not everyone will know to do this (unless it's only happening to me). It's gone from an ad a day to an ad per refresh (fair enough, you've got to pay the bills) but now this (which was preventing me from using the site altogether).

I've since been reading up and I'm considering donating, partly to get rid of ads altogether.

I don't mean to rock the boat and appreciate that many people have donated, but does donating potentially compromise the relative anonymity that a user of this site normally enjoys, if a MegaUpload type scenario were to occur and your records were seized? I assume you keep records which would then tie my username on this site to my payment username or transaction number, which could then be requested from the payment provider to trace my payment details and identify me?

I'm not usually this paranoid and I wouldn't imagine that a small donation would put me at the top of anyone's most wanted list, but since the recent online locker closures etc I've become more wary.

Thanks for your time and thanks for letting me be a part of such a great community!

:o)

Donating is the best bet to be add free

Donating to the site will not put you in any danger , you are donating to help keep a site running , not paying for the sites running costs

Noscrypt addon for firefox will help but donating will fix your problems

Honestly, I've had similar thoughts these past few days (shortly after I became Premium): If this site was shut down by the US government (or any government for that matter), what would happen to the Premium Users (who participated in supporting an "illegal" site)?

But like robbo said, I think we can sleep fairly relaxed..

Btw I don't support using ABP on this site since it depends on ads and donations..

No agency is going to go after someone for donating because that individual (or group) is not profiting from the site. That being said, no one profits from this site. All the donations go towards the server costs.

Since this thread's issue has been resolved I'm closing it.
