Default Creating a backup partition

I am going to attempt to create a backup partition, like the recovery console which comes with many newer name brand systems. How can I get the recovery to show up as a boot option once the partition is created?

With Acronis trueimage I think its the "activate startup recovery" option.

It puts a 2 second "F11 to recovery console" message at bootup.

Yeah, Acronis does that and Ghost has an option for that as well.
