I have a Toshiba Satellite 5105 laptop and....this is the problem with the laptop:
1. When I turn it on, the only way to get into Windows is Safe Mode. The normal way gives me a Blue Screen of Death
2. My graphics drivers or my physical graphics card has to be damaged because I get blue lines, and all sorts of characters showing up on my screen. I can't run it on 1600x1200 resolution, either.
3. Sound does not work....
Do you think a virus did all this?
If so (even if not so), do you think a format and clean install of XP would fix those problems?

A clean install could work but it wouldn't be guaranteed unless you pinpointed the problem a little more.

Well, I'm currently in the process of installing Windows XP Pro on that laptop.... I'll post back if it is successful. EDIT: It doesn't seem to have worked..... :lame:

It's 5 years old bro.....I didn't know about comps back then. I just wanted to see if it could be fixied but it seems like the gfx card sustained physical damage. | ||

Ya at this point your right it most likely is the gfx card, I'm assuming you already tried reinstalling the drivers :(. Like oxy said though the comp is pretty old if you have money to spare I suggest getting a new one or a decent used one could still be an upgrade.

Sounds like a hardware issue. Run a system test. Ask toshiba tech support. Etc.
