i dont have KAV but im guessing the internet security features are slowing down your browser. disable what u dont need like phishing filters or site scanner and whatnot. also, set your updates to run at a time u want instead of constantly checking for updates. that might be slowing down ur internet speed. other than that, your internet speed shouldnt be extremely slow... i did a quick google search, your not the only one experiencing this problem. Code: Select All http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=64539 Code: Select All http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080402111700AAWHgxm Code: Select All Unchecking port 80 removes a big chunk of Web AV protection. If you want Web Anti-Virus protection against web-borne threats, enable port 80. Then post the GSI log as Whizard requested. GSI instructions, see: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=36444 Disabling port 80 temporarily to troubleshoot is ok, but this is not intended to be a performance boost setting. Quote: All anti-virus programs will slow your computer down to some degree. That said, if you compare anti-virus programs individually on the same computer, some will be faster than others. Anti-virus applications are notoriously hungry for processing and hard drive utilization, if you have a slow drive, and slow processor combined, you can really hurt performance using a slower (though often more comprehensive) AV program. You may consider (if your habits are safe) not setting AV to do real-time scanning. (but doing a full scheduled scan at the end of the day / week) AVG is (as another poster mentioned) a great free AV solution, but again every solution will slow down a computer to some degree because it has to access files and process heuristic algorithms.
