I am using Firefox 3 from beta stage, and I must say/write that I haven't had a single crash with FF 3.

STill going good. I will next try installing KLite COdec Pack along with MPC... I think the problem just might have something to do with any of the many addons I had with FF3. damn. finding the bug is a bi**h

Yes, that is correct, an add-on can be a culprit. I am using these add-ons without a problem.

I live in Karachi, Pakistan and here we tend to have voltage problems. When ever the compressor of my aircondition would come on, my computer used to restart. My electrician advised me to ground my computer and now it does not happen. I have to take a different electrical connection for my modem though because it resets because of my Aircondition.

^^ Ah thats a different take on the situation. Thanks for sharing your experience. Modem getting resent is a serious setback. But I am doing ok @ this end.... no restarts as of now... using FF3 now... luckily , i think whatever caused my problem was temporary. Oh dear i am yet to try installing Klite mega codec pack

codec packs are known to mess up your filters and codecs if u do encodes. Almost all encoders avoid them.
Try using players with built-in internal filters and codecs.
TheKmplayer
VLC
GOMplayer
are a few good ones.

I had this problem but it wasn't Firefox that caused it, it was Internet Explorer surprise surprise LoL, BTW your problem might come back I sorted the problem and it lasted 3 months before doing it again, We bought a new computer (Mac Pro) and we're now happy LoL.

Ok this solution is pretty much very akward. But i used it when my PC was acting like this.

1. Install Winamp
2. Have it running (or the Winamp agent app)
3. Somehow, i've tested this at several computers, you can not shut down or reebot your computer whilst winamp or/and winamp agent is running.

This was quite the problem for me before i discoverd it was winamp who forced me to kill my computer thru pullin the cable :P

Yeah very odd solution but works nice if you like Winamp.

Some times it happens that FireFox take a lot of RAM (it is usually a FF bug)
& RAM exhauts which results in rebooting....i used to have similar issues but not of FF....i reformatted & now my PC works for like 10 hrs a day....& no rebooting...
