Cancel Private Folder trouble on XP

Hey everyone! Got a little problem here.

A long while back I made a folder with my 'accounting' files in, private.

Then I got hit a big virus and I had to do a system restore and back then I wasn't that great with PCs, I forgot to get rid of the private protection on the folder, so when I loaded my PC back up I found the folder still there and now I can not delete it or even open it

I've obviously tried unchecking the 'make folder private' box but it's greyed out and already unchecked.

So any suggestions anyone? Is there any software or the like that can get through the protection?

Thanks in advance

Are you using XP? You encrypted that folder?
