exactly!. now its full of toolbar links, links to things like netflix and other bittorent owned garbage. i even told them as much and was promptly banned from the forum. i put up a polite and i do mean polite post asking what was up with all the corporate sponsorship and advertising. the client now resembles bareshare more than ever and seems to be just as buggy...
my reply was. your account has been suspended till further notice, please read terms and conditions... i did and basically found nothing in there that warranted a ban.. but they banned me anyway.

the app itself has advertising and direct links to payware so now its basically just full of corporate crap... this started when they sold it to bittorent and they made it there preferred client. it may not have a very big download but look at it in the task manager. its way bigger than 900KB even utorrent 2.2 is 17MB downloading just 1 file 3.2 is bigger again...
http://sourceforge.net/projects/utorrentfilter/
oh and dont forget to use this...

lastly not only do you now get bloat ware you have to run apps to block content providers because they are being used to monitor your downloads. nah utorrent is dead as far as it currently stands for me. i will stick to 2.2 till i find another small client, as soon as i do then utorrent will be in my rear view...

Until one month ago, I was quite happy with utorrent 1.6.1 on my XP machine, BUT sooner or later I would have to upgrade, because of the magnet links thing. I gave a fast try to the "latest and greatest" version, and like the others said, "the latest and greatest" suxxx pig time Now I'm using version 1.8.5, and so far, I'm liking it ^_^

if your still using xp but have 2 gigs of ram then consider the jump to win7 theres little real difference in the platforms and it can be setup to look and even feel like xp but smoother.
dont get me wrong im a long time fan of xp i even have a legit copy of it. but it is getting long in the tooth now and with the arrival of win 8 its likely your gonna end up in the 95/98 category of users who cant use new software at all. you really dont wanna be that guy. there like linux users

I still use XP on my desktop at work, and probably XP is the best OS microsoft has released after windows 2000. Vista and Seven are roughly the same OS, Seven is an improved Vista. Not too bad, but XP is smoother. I don't know windows 8 but it doesn't seem a real improvement, and anyway I want my start button and a desktop.

Anyway 2 gigs RAM is barely enough for Seven, and with older GPU AERO does not work, so it's useless to install Seven on old machines, IMO. It depends also on the CPU. He could use Seven Starter, but in that case XP is much better

I hear you, but this is just a particular old PC. I like Windows 7 too, but I'll have to say that XP have been the most stable GUI-OS I've used from Microsoft. I also love the low latency XP gives me when I've worked on Audio, unlike Vista & 7.

I have been using utorrent for many years. The last install was several years ago, I'm still on the same install of XP(kind of surprising). I regularly update, I am careful about un-checking any boxes of software I don't want, have not really seen any of this actually. As I stated earlier, my current version is v3.1.3 build 27207 32 bit. Also as stated earlier, I have no problems or unwanted software at all.

right click on options and open the coatagory list. then right click on that and start checking everything in that list. you will see some new so called features open up
just click on them and you will see all the garbage thats now attached to utorrent.

The only thing that does not directly pertain to torrents is 'playback', and that is turned off.
