Default Technical help with sup subtitles

Guys, I need help with putting "sup" subtitles into an mkv video. My friends sent me english subtitles to a series I wanted to watch, but he only found "sup" files, no ASS nor SRT.

So when I put these "sup" files into the same folders as my mkv video files, the subtitles would not play. I tried using MPC and load the subtitles, but MPC does not recognize these "sup". I use the K-Lite software. Any advice guys?

1. Load the .SUP file into "BD Sup2Sub"
2. Save as "SUB/IDX".
3. Load MKV into "MKVMerge" GUI ("mmg.exe")
4. "ADD" "SUB" file ("IDX" file will be rejected - not needed anyway)
5. Set an output filename and location and click on the "Start muxing" radiobutton.

If you dont want to mux them in, just use steps 1 and 2.

MPC doesn't support external PGS/SUP subs. You'll need to convert .sup files into the DVD VobSub format (sub/idx).

No need to convert the .sups.....you just have to mux the .sups in mkvmerge....
No problem to play them with mpchc + Madvr......

I used subtitle edit, you can easily convert subs from a format to another - and sync them if needed, too

Default SubExtractor

Convert subtitles from DVDs and PGS (Bluray .sup) files into Advanced Substation Alpha or SRT format.

sup files will work in mpchc if you mux them into mkv files. And you also need to change some settings in mpchc (view>options>playback>output>(for internal subtitles support choose one of the options marked with two stars in direct show video I recommend EVR custom press option or one of those renderless vmr options (vmr-7 or vmr-9 renderless), maybe even hali renderer). Newer versions of ffdshow video decoder also support sup/pgs subtitles (especially versions that include aditional dxva decoder).

when you installed k-lite codec pack, which version did you install? I use Mega 6.9.0.
FFDshow in it supports embedded and external pgs subtitles. MPCHC which comes with this version of also supports embeded pgs subtitles.
