VLC Stutters on .MKV playback

Hi,
Whenever I tr to play a 720p .mkv on my computer VLC causes a video "stutter" like a lag in the video every once in a while. I have K-lite codec pack and when I play from Media player Classic it does not stutter but MPC doesn't remove subtitles like VLC. MPC says their are no subtitles even tho there are so it wont let me remove them.

Any suggestions on removing the subtitle easily off of MPC or getting VLC to stop stuttering on the video playback would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think its my computer but here are the stats any ways:

Quad core 6600
2gb DDR2
8600 GT OC

Thanks again

Your pc specs are just fine. Don't worry about that. I would rather say that it's probably a decoder compatibility problem. In many cases, picture stuttering means deintelacing (and\or deblocking) problem. Anyway, VLC is supposed to be a good player but not the best one can use. Please have a close look at the following tutorial and try to focus specially on the 2nd part "PLAYBACK". This combination of codecs is tested (mainly with ZoomPlayer WMV Pro v.5.50b1) and proved to give absolutely no problems in HD playback. I'm always at your disposal in case of any further questions may arise after applying contents of the above mentioned tutorial.

Cheers

Dont use VLC. Use Media Player Classic. Works better in my opinion.

Agreed. Don't use VLC for MKV formatted movies. Use Media Player Classic or ZoomPlayer (my favorite).

VLC's h264 AVC support is still a little outdated so it's definitely not recommended for playing HD movies, whether MKV or not.

Also, as for your subtitle issue, have you tried turning off the subtitles using Haali media splitter or the Vobsub filter?

No downsides at all for ZP (WMV Pro) dear langthang, providing that a user knows how to configure it and that the right codecs - DS filters are installed. This player can play any type of video or audio file flawlessly and has the best GUI compared to all others. MPC comes second to it, though it's still an awesome player too.
