Film Why some 720p movies are not 1280x720?

Hi all,

Sorry for the newbie question. I have noticed that many of the HD movies that I download from here say that they are 720p, however when you check the resolution it could be something like 1280x528.
Shouldn't all the 720p movies have a 1280x720 resolution?

The problem that I have with this is my TV is 16:9 so the movies don't look right unless that I adjust the display cropping a big part of the image.

Thanks
