According to IMDB original intended Aspect Ratio of movie is 2.35 : 1, so the "trimmed" version is original. Screens that have 16:9 AR must be from HDTV transfer - the technique is called Open Matte; in other parts of 16:9 movie, you may have picutre trimmed at left and right sides.

It's rather obvious from the screens that there is a significant amount cropped in the BluRay release. It's also clear that none of the left or the right has been cropped in the HDDVD version. If open matte was used, then there is no reason why it would differ from part to part. Regardless of what IMDb reports, it is clear a version exists that shows more of the film.
