Default Re: Psycho II 1983 1080i HDTV DD2.0 MPEG2-HEX

Download complete; while the image does look quite good, there is a LOT of combing due to the interlacing (especially during movement). Highlander (or someone else - I may try it myself): you may want to consider remuxing your HDTV files in 720p to get rid of the combing effect caused by the interlacing.

You will notice it particularly when the camera pans during scenes.

Tried BOB and MEAN and neither work (for those who don't know: in VLC media player, you can [right click]; go to VIDEO - DEINTERLACE MODES - select one of 8 settings. You can also go to VIDEO - DEINTERLACE - set to OFF, AUTOMATIC and ON). I did set the DEINTERLACE option to AUTOMATIC, which smoothed out the combing effect, but there is still an element of jitter.

When the courtroom scene opens, the camera closes in on Norman. If you look at the stenographer to his right, she blurs in and out a bit as the camera closes in on him. It is also really noticeable when Norman first arrives at the house with his counselor (the scene where he is out of the car pulling his things out, and his counselor walks behind him).

Does anyone know what programs to use as far as converting a 1080i file to a 720p file (and play with bit rates of conversion)? If someone can send me some program names, I will test it out on my PC.

Easiest way I know is to use Handbrake. There might be other ways out there to get better results (?) but HB is super easy.

BTW, thanks for the links. I'm not a NL fan either, but with using JDownloader, you just copy the links and walk away. In a day or two, they are all downloaded.

Thanks for your efforts!
